1. Overview
At Risen, we believe your personal data belongs to you. Risen is designed as a local-first application. We do not maintain user profiles or accounts on remote servers, nor do we run databases to compile, track, or commercialize your morning habits. Protecting your morning privacy is built directly into our app architecture.
Your personal wake-up records, photos, and mission data remain under your control and are not sold, rented, or shared for advertising purposes.
2. Information We Process
Risen handles limited data to power your alarms and streaks. All data is categorized as follows:
- Local Application Data: Alarm schedules, streak counts, history details, and custom configurations are saved securely on your device using SwiftData local persistence.
- Reference Photos: If you use the Photo Mission, the reference image you choose to snap (e.g., your bathroom sink) is saved locally in the App's isolated container.
- Physical Motion & Steps: For the Steps and Squats missions, Risen utilizes CoreMotion steps counts to evaluate completion.
- Location Data: To display morning weather on your Home dashboard, Risen may request your device location. Location data is used solely to retrieve local weather information and is not stored by Risen on our servers.
- Anonymized Diagnostics: Basic app events and crash logs are collected to improve performance and app stability.
3. iOS System Permissions
To provide high-accountability alarms and morning tasks, Risen requests access to the following iOS system capabilities:
- AlarmKit & Notifications: Required to schedule alarms at the system layer, bypass Focus/Silent modes, and display Live Activities on the Lock Screen. Alarms cannot function without these permissions.
- Camera: Required only when using the Photo or Squat missions. The camera is used to capture reference photos and verify wake-up challenges.
- Motion & Fitness: Required only when using the Steps or Squat missions to track movement and count reps.
- Location Services: Optional permission utilized to retrieve local coordinates for morning weather updates.
- iCloud: Required to synchronize alarm schedules and statistics across your Apple devices when iCloud Sync is active.
4. On-Device & Sensor Processing
We believe in absolute data privacy. All sensor integrations behave according to the following guidelines:
- In-Memory Vision Analysis: Camera frames used during Photo and Squat missions are processed strictly in real-time, locally in memory on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Camera feeds or video streams are never saved, recorded, or transmitted.
- Local Photo Storage: Only the single static reference photo you select for the Photo Mission is stored in the App's local sandbox container.
- Local Motion Data: CoreMotion values (steps and pose counts) are calculated locally and are not transmitted.
5. Analytics & Diagnostics
Risen utilizes Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to monitor application health, track stability, and understand feature usage. The data collected is strictly anonymized and includes diagnostics such as:
- App launch events and setting updates.
- Fired alarm events, mission starts, and mission completion times.
- Anonymized crash logs and system execution faults.
This data is used solely for diagnostics, product analytics, and performance improvement. We do not intentionally collect names, email addresses, payment information, or other directly identifying personal information through these services.
6. Purchases & Subscriptions
Transactions for Risen Pro are processed securely by Apple's App Store. Risen utilizes the RevenueCat SDK to manage subscription entitlements and verify purchase receipts. Risen uses anonymous App User IDs to link purchase transactions with Pro status. We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card, billing details, or App Store account credentials.
7. Third-Party Services Summary
Risen integrates with specific third-party SDKs to provide core operations:
- Apple App Store & CloudKit: Billing transactions, iCloud backup, and cross-device database synchronization.
- RevenueCat: Anonymous subscription validation and entitlement routing.
- Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics): Performance metrics and anonymized error/crash tracking.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Risen retains local statistics and reference photos as long as the application remains installed on your device.
App Deletion: Removing the Risen application from your device permanently deletes all local SwiftData records, configuration files, and cached reference photos.
CloudKit Data Deletion: Uninstalling the application does not automatically delete synchronization data backed up to your private iCloud/CloudKit database. To completely remove all data synced to iCloud, you must do one of the following:
- Use the Clear All Data button in Risen Settings while iCloud Sync is toggled on (this sends a deletion request to CloudKit).
- Open your iOS device Settings, go to your Apple ID profile, select iCloud, tap Manage Account Storage, select Risen, and choose Delete Data.
9. User Privacy Rights
Because Risen operates under a local-first model, you retain full rights over your data. You can access, modify, or delete your wake-up configurations and history logs at any time directly within the App. Since we do not maintain user accounts or store personal data on remote servers, we cannot retrieve, export, or delete your data on your behalf.
10. Children’s Privacy
Risen does not collect or request information from children under the age of 13. Since Risen does not require account registration or store personal data on remote servers, we do not knowingly track or maintain personal information from minors.
